Little Brown Bird

Synopsis:
An overworked farmer must care for her father, who is living with dementia, as he becomes increasingly convinced something is hunting them.

Project Background:
This short film is an original idea developed by writer and director Pete Rogers. Pete had been looking for a producer to help him bring his idea to life and engaged Daniel J. Harris. Together they pitched the idea to the Isle of Man Arts Council and received a large chunk of their funding, supplemented by a crowd funding campaign.

Project Insight:
Little Brown Bird was delivered with support from the Isle of Man Arts Council, and we were able to access John Rhys-Davies (Indiana Jones, Lord of the Rings) who agreed to play one of our lead roles. We also engaged Eliza Butterworth (The Last Kingdom, A Town Called Malice) who agreed to play the lead role of Kate. With an amazing cast in place we also engaged ‘Curfew’ Director of Photography Mark Nutkins and worked with EatSleep Media to produce and edit the film, engaging editor Luke Andrews to deliver the film. We also worked with Gorilla VFX on the delivery of visual effects to add the final touches to the film. 

Creative Approach:
Story:
– The film has a major plot twist that is hidden from the audience for most of the film, and when revealed has evoked shocked reactions.

Cinematic Storytelling:
– Little Brown Bird was shot to look as cinematic as possible, using high end cameras and lighting to give the film the highest quality look and feel.

VFX:
– In order to bring to life the horror elements of the film Gorilla VFX worked on the film for several weeks to add the high end cinematic blood and horror elements required.

Outcome:
Little Brown Bird has played in film festivals across  the globe, and has been nominated for a wide range of awards, winning several.
